Sometimes you feel like a rock-star...until you realize, they didn't come for you, they came for the Marvel superheroes! Alas...

I was Honored to be a Special Guest this Year at The Motor-City Comic-Con, 50,000 FANS STRONG! (2024) I was also a special guest at Atlanta's DRAGON CON (2024) which had over 80,000 cosplay fans storming the streets as I watched from my 22nd floor Hotel room .
I have also been an honored guest at the Wizard-World Chicago Comic Con (2011) (now Fan Expo Chicago) the Fantasticon in Toledo (2024), Great-Lakes Comi-Con in Warren, MI (2023), Capital City Con in Lansing, MI (2023), and even my own hometown event,  the Saginaw Comi-Con. Just recently, I was also special guest at Steel City Con in Pennsylvania (2024) where I was given a VIP pass. Can you believe it? When everyone else was waiting in mile-long lines to meet their favorite celebrities, I was having lunch with the likes of Bryce Dallas Howard of Jurassic World, Annie Potts, Danny Glover and others. God! I love my business!

"Galactus-Slayer Thor"
Illustration by Jerry DeCaire, Artist for
Thor Annual # 19 and EPIC Collection's, THOR, Hel on Earth - both Written by the Legend, Roy Thomas.
This is the most jacked Thor ever, enhanced by Megingjord, Stormbreaker, Mjolnir, the
Asgardian Life Force and finally, the Warrior Madness which multiplies Thor's already prodigious strength X 10!

DeCaire's latest Marvel publications:
X-Force Omnibus: VOL 1 (Dec 2024); EPIC Collection's Trade-Paperback, Hawkeye: Shafted (Dec 2024); X-Men: X-Tinction Agenda Omnibus (2024); EPIC Collection's Trade-Paperback, Thor: Hel on Earth (2023); and  the Hardcover, Wolverine Omnibus VOL 3 (2023).
A SPECIAL NOTE: If you haven't noticed, my name doesn't appear on most of these trades and hardcovers, but you can find my name on the interior credits page in any of these publications. However, my name does appear on the cover of "THOR: Hel on Earth," and that's due do my volumous contribution as an artist. The best part is that I, for the first time, share the cover right next to John Buscema; arguaby the finest comic book illustrator ever. Stan Lee even went so far as to call Big John "The Michelangelo of the comics!" The more I learn as an artist, the better John's work looks to me. As they say, John has been and will always be, "the artist's artist".

When you work as an artist for a company like MARVEL Entertainment, your work gets circulated to 38 countries worldwide and it gets a lot of attention. In fact, its even gotten  attention from  Fantasy Art Magazine - a publishing house from Beijing China. It is the widest distribution magazine of its genre in a country of one-billion, four-hundred and ninety-two million citizens! I was flabbergasted but greatly honored!

A Surreal Meet and Greet with "SULU" of Star Trek!
I've watched Star Trek, the original series since childhood and can you even imagine the surreal experience I had having met the icon, George Takei who played the swashbuckling Sulu? As a thank you for his great performances, I gave George signed copies of my "Wolverine, The Exception" and Dante's Deadpool". He and his friendly entourage enthusiastically praised my artwork as "beautiful." I told them, I'm sure theyll prove more a burden than an asset and will eventually be tossed like so many things at a Con are when they quickly interjected,  "Oh, no! These are truly beautiful! They're a keeper for George!" And indeed, they gingerly set them aside face-down on each other for protection. That's when I knew they were sincere. George and crew then encouraged me to take a photo with him but I didn't have my phone on me at the time. Silly me. I then said my goodbyes and went back to my booth when I decided to pick up my phone and head back to George's booth to give him an actual original pencil drawing of Captain America. George joked that Cap had amazing pecs and I added, "What's a superhero without great pecs?" George added that he once had great pecs in his youth. I said, of course you did George, I very much recall that shirtless sword fight in one of your many Star Trek episodes. Everyone laughed.

So rather than have them take a picture of George and me together, I asked that they take a picture of George holding up my Captain America drawing along with my promo-card and, voila! What you see here is a precious moment in time that captured an icon that I have watched year after year on TV as a kid and even as an adult holding up my artwork. Does it get any more surreal than that? Thank you George for  giving me and so many of your fans such happy memories.
