The pages I've illustrated for Marvel Entertainment are typically penciled or drawn out and then other artists will ink and color my penciled pages. I open here with pages from my own brainchild, "The Which-When Man", where you can see how my work looks when I do the entire shebang! Here, I have written the story, penciled, inked, colored and even lettered the page art. These samples are better suited to show my particular skill set without the embellishments of another artist to lead you astray in evaluating my work. I'll share a quick story with you about a certain book and a certain famous character I was drawing for Marvel Entertainment when I was serving as only a penciler. When I was about 10 pages in, I asked the editor what he thought about the work. He remarked, "They're fabulous Jerry! Just fabulous!" Then a certain inker, who I won't name, embellished my work and had the boldness to call and say to me, "Jerry, I just wanted you to know that I fixed up all of your problems and the pages look great now." Needless to say, he certainly did "FIX" my pages. Ahem! I then asked what the editor thought about the work, and he reluctantly shared that it wasn't so good. But it's not the inker who gets the honor or the blame for the final work, it's the penciler. So on this page you will first see my Which-When Man pages that are TOTALLY under my control, but also the independent work which is MOSTLY under my control. Witness and observe, THE REAL DECAIRE. I hope you enjoy them.
